For the betterment of Goa, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) submitted budgetary recommendations to the Chief minister Pramod Sawant for different sectors such as tourism, education, mining healthcare, and start-ups.
For tourism, the CII said that the Goa Tourism Board should be informed after the suggested changes have been applied to the board’s constitution so this beautiful State can be portrayed as a safe holiday destination for tourists. They recommended that part of the budget should be used for getting Blue Flag certification for five beaches and to effectively manage beaches so hawkers and shacks are dealt with. Another suggestion was for the government to create a scheme to help renovate Goan homes which can be turned into homestays.
To get more skillful manpower, CII wants a National Institute of Design to be set up. They stressed the importance of improving infrastructure at all of Goa’s industrial estates. These would include facilities for sewage treatment, a fire hydrant system, a reliable power supply, proper waste disposal, etc.
The need for better internet connectivity in Goa and a reliable cost-effective public transport was expressed too.
