Goa To Have Sunny Skies From Today

It is forecasted that Goa will see clear blue sunny skies after last week’s unseasonal rainfalls. Whatever was causing these showers have weakened in intensity. “Based on the present situation, the thunderstorm and rainfall activity is going to reduce from February 23. Therefore, we have issued dry weather then onwards,” India meteorological department (IMD) scientist, Rahul M said.

From February 18, a trough along the west coast caused unseasonal rainfall. After that became weak, one trough from Lakshadweep and another one from the Arabian Sea led to thunderstorms in the State till February 22. Cloud formations led to rainfall in areas like Bicholim and Ponda.

“The trough at 1.3km height that persisted on Monday has weakened and the one at Lakshadweep has moved further away from the coastal lines. The impact is therefore less. As of now, there is no chance of the intense rainfall continuing further,” Rahul revealed.
