August 6, 2017: The pristine South Goa beach, famous as one of the most important nesting sites for the Olive Ridley turtles in the state, will soon be developed in this area further. The management plan for conservation and protection of turtle nesting sites has recommended several measures, including identification and restoration of degraded areas, and barricading of designated nesting sites, to promote turtle conservation. The aim behind the conservation efforts is to ensure that maximum number of eggs laid at the beach hatch. The conservation efforts will also include a complete prohibition of any tourist related activity on the beach, including prohibiting the erection of any shacks or seasonal establishments on the beach.
