Missing Alert by Drishti Lifesaving Pvt Ltd

August 6th, 2017: Earlier today, a fishing boat comprising of eight fishermen was returning back to the shore about 1 km left of Baina tower when a fisherman from Chhattisgarh aged 23 accidentally fell into the water at a distance of 100 meters from the shore. The incident occurred at Baina beach in South Goa at approximately 09:00 hours. Mohan Lamani approached the lifeguard tower and informed the on duty Drishti lifeguards about the incident. Simultaneously, the fishermen also mentioned that the victim was not wearing a life jacket and didn’t know to swim. Immediately on duty Drishti lifeguard Mariyappa Harizan set off on a Jet Ski to reach the spot and began searching for the victim. In the meanwhile Drishti lifeguards Yallappa Chalawadi, M.H. Gulabal and Sector Head Shashikant Jadhav arrived at the spot and assisted with the search operation. The search operation is currently still on. The missing victim is yet to be found. Drishti Lifesaving had issued a monsoon advisory cautioning visitors and locals not to venture into the sea as the weather and sea conditions can be unpredictable.
