With your flippers injured, how far can you go

19th April, 2017: The turtle egg hatching season is still on and just today morning, an injured turtle was found lying at the Cavelossim beach. The turtle was rescued by Drishti Lifeguards and safely handed over to the forest department. The rescued turtle had an injury on its flipper and therefore, was not able to venture back into the sea. The adult turtle was one of the lucky turtles who were saved in time; a few weeks back, we had reported how 3 to 4 turtles were found dead on the Cavelossim beach stretch, without a significant reason to point towards. It is heartening to know that lifeguards when sensitized towards environmental issues can help in preserving endangered marine life on Goa’s beaches.
