Ten out of the 30 electric Kadamba buses are currently operating on roads in Goa. The reason all 30 aren’t being used right now is because there aren’t enough charging stations yet.
On 23rd March, 20 more buses will be arriving in the state. “We are in the process of setting up charging stations at each bus stand of the KTC. A transformer needs to be uploaded and there is a load factor to be considered for the charging. We can expect the rest of the buses to be running by the end of May or beginning of June,” KTC chairman, Carlos Almeida.
Currently, there are only two charging stations at the KTC Margao depot. It’s not enough to charge all 30 buses, so for now only 10 will be operating. “We have just opened the tender for setting up charging stations. It was delayed only because the tender was opened late. We had to wait until the code of conduct ended to take permission to float the tender,” said Derek Pereira Neto, KTC managing director.
After the charging stations are installed, the other buses will be introduced to the Goa roads in groups of five.
