Have you ever tried Goa’s velchi bananas? They are delicious and unfortunately a lot of it foes to waste as local producers can’t compete with the rates of imported bananas from other states. To tackle this problems, a farmer in Goa with an interesting name – Sachin Tendulkar – has come up with a genius idea to deal with the fruits that would be thrown out.
He decided to solar-dry sliced velchi bananas to be sold as dry fruits. His solar drier takes five days to convert the fruit into dried fruit. It also saves energy and doesn’t consume fossil fuels. Tendulkar suggested that it can be sold as a Goan delicacy. This healthy snack will be great for those who are interested in fitness and want to eat something rich in protein.
The innovative farmer is also planning to make vegan shrikhand using jaggery, banana, and coconut milk. He wants to use banana-syrup to create ready-to-eat banana halwa as well.
