We’ve all heard about dogs, cats, or even cow rescue stories. But have you ever heard of an Ant-eater rescue? This rare creature, the Indian pangolin, also known as an ant-eater was rescued at Dhargal, Pernem, Goa.
A Pernem local, Govind Dhargalkar, spotted this unique species near his home. He caught it and put it in a cage. The next day, Dhargalkar notified the Forest Department about his find. He wanted to make sure that the animal falls into the right hands. The Indian pangolin is unfortunately hunted and poached a lot. In fact, they are a protected species under Schedule I of the Wild Life (Protection) Act.
The pangolin’s unique trait is curling their bodies into a ball which exposes their hard scales while protecting their belly and face.
