An app to report potholes?!

Soon, citizens will be able to complain about potholes on Goa roads through a public grievances app. This app will let complaints come in directly. After which the potholes will be repaired immediately, according to Nilesh Cabral, Minister for Public Works.

The chief, assistant, and even junior engineers who don’t act on the complaints received will be held responsible. The punishment even includes suspending or terminating their services.

This is how the app works… a person can upload photos of the potholes. This will reach the contractor and he or she will have to act on it immediately. Cabral acknowledged that having a 100% pothole-free Goa is hard, but he will try his best. He added that if potholes form on the roads before the guarantee period, contractors won’t be able to shirk their duties.

Earlier on, jet patcher machines were introduced. These could remove water accumulated in the potholes and then repair them. However, this method isn’t effective when there is heavy rainfall.
