Dona Paula Jetty, a notable tourist destination, has been closed since November 2018. The Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd, who was supposed to beautify the jetty, made a report which deemed the place unsafe for people to move about there.
Panjim Mayor, Uday Madkaikar, inspected the jetty and announced that the tourism department has already started fixing and developing the place. By the beginning of March, the jetty is expected to have a renovated area for parking and new kiosks for sellers who have been allocated carts in that area for some years. The redevelopment work comes under Central funding which is approximately Rs.11 crores. All the work to revamp the jetty will be completed by June 2021. Locals and tourists will be able to visit by the first week of June.
