The Blue Lagoon, as fondly termed by the locals, in Santrem is a well guarded secret hideout that only a few folks are aware about and yet is one of the most scenic places in Goa.
They say nothing worth having comes easily. This place truly encompasses that phrase. Blue Lagoon, Santrem, although a tough find makes you exhale away your regret the moment you do manage to find it! A fork in the road makes you choose between a cliff-view point, also popularly known as suicide point, and a rock side area, whose beauty will simply take your breath away. With the waves lashing on one side, and a sublime heart-shaped lake that bleeds as blue as the raging evening sky, the lake is the perfect place to settle down, unwind and gaze at the setting sun in all its glory. While the lake isn’t the safest or most hygienic for a swim, we recommend buying a few beers from a wine shop along the way (cheaper than buying them anywhere else) and perching yourself upon one of the many rocks as the red tides glow blue and the sky burns with a different hue.
Directions: From Dabolim junction, just ahead of the Goa International Airport head towards Bogmalo. On the way to Bogmalo, when you cross Felicity gym you will see a Chicolna bus stand on the right opposite of which, there is a road that lead towards Stone Water Resort. Instead of taking the left that takes you to Stone Water, go straight towards the Coast Guard colony. Head straight from here and you will find an unbuilt road, which when followed brings you to this picturesque place.
The path is tricky, but frequent visitors, locals and joggers will be more than willing to direct you. We’re warning you: this place is no easy find, but once discovered is worth the effort and exercise!
