Cakes on skates

Cakes on skates is a cloud kitchen, located in Edcon Mindspace, St. Inez, near Fisherman’s wharf. Cloud kitchen, also known as Ghost Kitchen, refers to a place where food is prepared and either delivered at doorsteps or takeaway by taking orders via calls and online ordering platforms.

Pastry chef Aqsa Lakdawalla started her dream project during the pandemic. She didn’t want to open a café due to the uncertainty of the lockdown imposed in Goa. The promotion is mostly done by herself on online platforms, but mainly through word of mouth by all her clients. There are 2 assistants working under her and they actively participate in promoting too.

They take orders for a wide variety of desserts – cupcakes, cheesecakes, cookies, brownies, bread, eclairs, doughnuts, macarons, etc. The team also make wedding cakes and other designer cakes for birthdays and anniversaries. Orders for healthy sugar-free and keto-friendly desserts are accepted by them as well. It is up on their swiggy menu too.

Chef Aqsa also conducts baking classes which have helped a lot of low-income women to start taking orders from home as well as kids who love to bake. Customers can place their orders through Instagram or directly call them. They are available on Swiggy and Zomato. Every second Monday the kitchen is sanitized and deep cleaned.

They have an underground basement parking for all the clients who come to pick up their orders. The most unique thing about the brand is that they accept urgent same day orders for customized as well as regular cakes, hence the name ‘Cakes on Skates’. They are also very flexible with their orders. They work as per the clients’ needs, tastes and requirements, and don’t stick to just the flavours up on the menu. A new menu with different flavours and products is released by them almost every 2^nd month.

As covid safety measures are considered, all the staff, including the cleaner are fully vaccinated. They also don’t allow any outsiders into the kitchen as per their safety and hygiene rules.
