Workshop in sound with Divesh Gadekar

September 10, 2022 - September 11, 2022

Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts presents a 2-day workshop in Acoustics with the Conch Shell with contemporary artist Divesh Gadekar on 10th and 11th September 2022.

The conch shell or the shankh is an ancient object believed to enhance sound frequencies and today is used as a popular breathing technique.

Understanding the versatility of the conch is important, where its deeper meanings and magical layers can unravel. Trained under the guidance of his father, Divesh Gadekar mastered the unique technique of using the conch shell, and aims to share its values, acoustics, and uses for various purposes in a positive way.

Participants will be taken through various methods where they will discover the many facets of this instrument. As part of the workshop, they will also engage in performance.

This workshop is part of our ongoing exhibition Time, Space, Memory: decoding contemporary video, a show bringing together the voices of five artists using the moving image as a point of departure and a tool for aesthetic inquiry.

Saturday, 10th September | 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm and Sunday, 11th September | 10.30 am to 12.30 pm
