The first charter flight from the UK to Goa will arrive on November 6. The very first charter flight will enter the State on October 26 from Almaty, Kazakhstan. Operators are hopeful that the time to process visa applications will be cut down which will let travellers go ahead with their India holiday plans.
In the past few days, many British cancelled their plans because of visa issues. TUI will operate one flight a week for now. The number of flights was reduced because of the cancelled bookings.
One of the visa rules that was implemented by the government of India was that the applicant has to visit the visa centre in person. UK citizens who are eager to have a vacation in India are stopped by e-visa obstacles in terms of eligibility. In the past one year, the government has been requested to let UK citizens get e-visas.
Due to the cancelled bookings, Goa’s tourism sector could face a loss of more than Rs 80 to 100 crore.
