Goa temperature may drop a bit this week

There was a relief from the heat and humidity in Goa as light rain fell in a few parts of the state. This was caused by a trough that formed between Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka. Places like Guirim, Porvorim, Aldona, and Vasco experienced the rainfall.

The overcast conditions had raised the temperature by 3.4 degrees above normal levels in the morning to 27.7 degrees Celcius. This faded away by afternoon. Last week, on Friday, the temperature was 35.5 degrees Celcius which was above normal levels. Now, the mercury has come down to its normal state.

“We are expecting fair weather from Wednesday. Clouding will reduce and maximum temperature will go down by a degree,” Rahul M, scientist at the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Panaji, said.

Over the weekend, the humidity was 13-16% higher than usual. On Tuesday it was 5-6% above normal. The maximum temperature is likely to be between 33-34 degrees Celsius. The IMD has warned fishermen not to go more than 75 km away from the coast because the wind is expected to blow at 40-50 km per hour speed.
