Goa’s GST Collection Back To Normal

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, collection of taxes went down in the State of Goa. However, in December 2020, the tax collection bounced back to its normal levels as it was before the pandemic.

The government under Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, is set on increasing the GST, CST, and IST tax revenue collection by making sure current taxpayers are compliant in paying taxes, growing the taxpayer base, and plugging leaks. Goa governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari revealed that despite the lockdown Goa faced for more than three months, 292.2 crores of excise revenue was collected until December. The target for GST collections last year was Rs 4,406.6 crore, while the set target of 2021 is fixed at Rs 5,393.7 crore.
