Goa’s Kadamba Transport Corporation floats tender for an extra 500 electric buses

As the state of Goa excitedly waits for the launch of its first electric buses on March 23, plus the arrival of 100 mini-buses later on, the Kadamba Transport Corporation made another announcement. A tender for 500 more buses has been floated.

“This is a fresh tender for a new set of buses which include 500-km capacity buses, long-distance buses, luxury buses, sleeper buses, and regular big buses. These buses will run on a day basis and not on a kilometre basis,” a KTC official revealed.

That means the bus’s destination and the number of kilometres travelled doesn’t matter but they will get paid for the day. “This way even if the bus operates 200km or 300km, the rate paid to the winning bidder will be the same. We expect bidders to quote an economical rate for these new buses,” the official explained.

The KTC will observe whether the buses running on a day basis or on a kilometre basis is more practical.
