For the 36th edition of National Games in Goa, Chief minister Pramod Sawant assured the organizers that there would be no paucity of funds for them. He has allocated Rs. 150 crores for this. Areas incurring expenses are ceremonies, marketing, venue operations, transport, accommodation, etc.
“Out of the eleven sports complexes/stadiums constructed for the purpose of National Games, five complexes at Navelim, Fatorda, Sawalwadda, Campal and Ponda have already been completed and the remaining six would be completed soon,” Sawant said. In the next 2-3 months, many other places will be completed as well.
“The swimming pool at Campal was scheduled to be inaugurated by March 31, but the contractor delayed. Work will now be completed in the next 15 days,” said a Sports Authority of Goa official.
Many sports facilities have been set up across Goa for the Lusofonia Games and the National Games. The chief minister has also suggested making a policy to monetise sports facilities on PPP model at no cost basis.
