Launched on the occasion of National Startup Day, January 16, 2023, the Hack-a-Cashew is conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Goa, with the Atal Incubation Centre at Goa Institute of Management (AIC-GIM) as a knowledge partner.
Goa has been forever famous for its cashews. Whether it’s your drink, your dinner or your dessert. Unfortunately, there has been a 50 percent decline in the annual cashew yield and this includes the export earnings, too. It is a bit disconcerting considering the fact that cashews are cash crop for Goa. In order to combat this, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Goa and the Goa Institute of Management (AIC-GIM) are working on bringing about ‘Hack-A-Cashew’ where innovative ways can be discussed to increase the numbers.
To understand the problem better, teams from CII and AIC-GIM met with different cashew growers to know what kind of issues they face. This hackathon will be a platform for budding entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers and what have you, to come up with unique ideas to improve the cashew industry. These ideas could be from a business, scientific, money making or sustainable point of view. Get your thinking hats on!
