Helicopters in Goa to the rescue!

Now helicopters will be used in Goa… to rescue accident victims! This is very useful, especially for isolated areas in the state. There will be one helicopter for both districts. They will also be used to ensure laws are followed and manage traffic.

There were around 750 fatal accidents since 2019. The Goa police proposed to have 3 helipads at the Mapusa & Margao district hospitals and at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. The state of Goa has a topography that makes the road network complex. There are national highways, state highways, other roads, and coastal belt roads.

So, many times ambulances aren’t able to reach the accident victim during the crucial hour, especially if it happened in a remote area. The helicopters will be used to rescue victims, maintain law and order during huge events, and manage traffic.
