Historic Cabo de Rama Fort to get a makeover!

The historic Cabo de Rama Fort which is one of the oldest forts in Goa is ready for a facelift! This project will cost Rs 21.45 crores. A tender has been floated by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) for the fort’s makeover.

Some of the work involved is replacing missing stones, removing shrubs from the fort walls, stabilizing rocks, and restoring the bastions and fort walls. The blocks of the fort complex, ticketing centre, pavers near the chapel, etc, will be restored too.

New pathways will be created with laterite stones or beaten earth while the existing pathways will be strengthened. The tender documents also talk about basic facilities such as a cafeteria, toilets, sitting areas, informative signboards, electrification, and a museum.

Watching the sunset over the Arabian Sea from the Cabo de Rama Fort is magical.
