Keri Beach

At the northest tip of Goa, lies the pristine Keri Beach which has a backdrop of lofty casuarina trees, as opposed to the ubiquitous coconut palms growing along the Goan coastline. The long strip of sand has scattered jagged red rocks and headland on the southern end, and the mouth of the Tiracol river at the north.  The waters here are clear and the beach is serene and calm and there are only a handful of shacks that dot the beach.

The charm of this quiet, modest beach lies in its slow pace, almost as if time has been magically frozen on a perfect day. Behind the beach is the small Keri village with its lush green paddy fields, temples, giant banyans and exotic birds. A ferry ride across the Tiracol river to the Tiracol Fort offers great views of the river meeting the sea.

Things to do: Head to the Tiracol Fort which is converted to a Heritage hotel. The deck offers grand views of the Tiracol estuary. Have a coffee or dine amidst spectacular views at the hotel deck.

Walk along the long stretch of white sand or take a soothing dip in the blue green waters. Relax at one of the beach shacks and dig into great seafood as you watch the sun set into the horizon.

Location: North Goa, 38 kilometers from Mapusa and 50 kilometers from Panjim. The closest railway station is Thivim.
