UK’s First Lady Akshata Murty is holidaying in Goa, along with her family. While UK’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak continues his duties in the UK, First Lady Akshata and her family enjoys Goa, and were seen enjoying the Benaulim beach.
Few locals who recognised the First Lady, came forward to talk to her. A local fisherman Pele Fernandes managed to strike up a conversation with UK’s First Lady and asked her to keep the Goans living in England safe. Pele, who also has a water sports business, happened to meet her when her family members were walking on Benaulim beach. He approached her and asked if she and her children would be interested in a water sports activity. “She asked me, is water sports in Goa safe? I told her, Ma’am, it is 100 percent safe and I will keep you and your family safe if they wish to do water sports. But before they got on our speed boats, I told her that there are many Goans living in the UK and I want her to see that they are safe too. She acknowledged and replied, ‘done!’,” an excited Pele told media persons on Tuesday.
The people who met the first lady shared that they found her to be a very down-to-earth, grounded person and appreciated their courteous addressal. Pele added that he was happy that she and her two young children enjoyed the water sports experience in Goan waters.
Pele further reiterated that he hopes the UK government will ensure that Goans in the UK are kept safe and that his message about Goans gets passed on to the UK PM directly.
