A majestic black panther has been spotted in Goa! Even though they have been present in the state for a long time, seeing them is quite rare. The camera trap in the Mollem forests captures its image.
The forest minister, Vishwajit Rane, revealed that the animal’s movements will be tracked and monitored. When a leopard or jaguar is a very dark colour, it’s called a black panther. Melanism is when an animal produces too much melanin. This occurrence is rare.
There have been sightings to show that there is more than one black panther in Goa. The latest one spotted isn’t jet black and its distinct leopard markings can be seen.
There were sightings in Sattari and in the past and they have even been seen in Bicholim near the canal.
