Mangoes sell like hot cakes at Bicholim

Before the monsoons, residents of Goa start storing food items like kokum, dry fish, raw mangoes, and red chillies. This is because some ingredients are hard to obtain during the rainy season.

In the Bicholim local market, there was a remarkable sale of mangoes. Raw mangoes were sold at prices ranging from Rs 250 and Rs 450 for hundred pieces. They are eaten in curries or as a side dish with main meals. This goes for dried fish too.

The following 2 weeks will most probably be the last days for the sale of these items. The sale had been postponed due to bad weather.
