Miramar & Keri notified for watersports by tourism department. Both beaches are notified for boat rides and dolphin-spotting trips. While jet ski rides, inflatable banana and bump rides, winch parasailing, island trips, kayaking, and stand-up surf boats have permits only at Keri. Beach parasailing, however, is not allowed due to the dangers posed by the area’s rocky outcrop. Miramar and Keri notified for watersports is an important step taken seeing high tourist footfalls.
The tourism department’s notification stated that only PNJ-registered vessels get the permits to operate at Miramar. This is in lieu of the strong currents and barges plying on the Mandovi river. It is mandatory for all vessels to equip with life jackets, fire extinguishers and first aid boxes.
Goa Electronic Ltd (GEL) will operate a single window system for queue maintenance at the two beaches. Ticket counters will be set up at the entrances of both. Over the past few months, the tourism department has been reiterating that watersports operators. They are seeking permission for their activities as the safety of tourists is paramount. There are many unrecognized operaters using vessels cleared by the Captain of Ports department, raising safety concerns. Instructions is given to operators to ensure their customers do not swim in zones with watersports demarcation.
