The new Goa Mopa Airport is most likely to start operating in the first week of January! The first day could be January 5. Prime Minister Modi may be inaugurating the airport on December 11. It takes approximately a month’s time. Also, 15 days are needed for CISF to handle the place’s security.
Airlines will have to mark tickets for which airport the flights to and from Goa will operate from – Dabolim or Mopa.
The Mopa Airport received its aerodrome license which means it’s safe and ready to deal with flights. Some airlines will be operating from both airports. The Dabolim airport has a limited number of slots for commercial flights. This led to high ticket prices during the peak season. Mopa airport will be totally for civilians which will allow more flights to enter Goa.
