The place: The first restaurant in Goa to have served chicken cafreal and a recipient of the prestigious Excellence in Cuisine Award from International Wine & Food Society, UK, O’Coqueiro serves authentic Goan & Portuguese cuisine today. Started way back in 1968, O’Coqueiro, which means coconut trees in Portuguese, is owned by the Alcon group of companies headed by Anil Counto. A popular landmark in Porvorim, it offers a myriad of seating options, right from the open air restaurant – Salao, the air-conditioned one – Sala de jantar, two private air-conditioned meeting rooms – Sala de banquets and Sala privade, an open air banquet with stage and dance floor facilities called Revaldo, and Tavern – a lounge with full bar service. Best known for its personalized service and great ambience, it also caters to corporate parties, get-togethers, and weddings.
