Goa Yachting Association’s Pearl Colvalcar and Avelino Fernandes are selected to represent India at the 6th Asian Beach Games – Sanya China to be held in April 2021 in the Techno 293 OD Windsurfing category.
Pearl Colvalcar and Avelino Fernandes both 14 yrs old are Goa’s next generation windsurfers who will win glory for India and Goa. The Techno 293 OD category is the Youth Olympic class in windsurfing and a good performance at the Asian Beach games could earn them a qualifying spot at the next Youth Olympics.
Katya Coelho of Goa represented India at the 2014 Youth Olympics in the Techno 293 OD category and has then gone on to represent India at the Asian Games 2018 at Jakarta in the RS:One Category.
A fulltime windsurfing and sailing coach would go a long way in ensuring that these promising sailors and more in their wake can achieve their full potential and win medals for India and Goa.
