Robots will be saving lives on Goa’s beaches?! One is Triton, an AI monitoring device, and the other is Aurus, a robot that can drive itself. They were introduced by Drishti Marine, the State’s lifeguard agency.
The machines are capable of assessing the vicinity and detecting risks. The lifeguards on duty can access real-time information from the AI devices which can lead to faster rescues. Aurus will help monitor the coastline and manage large crowds to help avoid unfortunate accidents. It also assists the lifeguards by patrolling many non-swim zones and even warns tourists during high tide. Aurus has already worked for 110 hours and covered around 130 kilometres.
This new technology will enable the public to be safer. Drishti lifesavers will operate both AI systems in the central control room. They’ll also decide which areas the machines will patrol.
