Selected Teachers In Goa To Become Schools’ Health Ambassadors

For students to get knowledge on important practical subjects other than the typical school curriculum, teachers from every aided, unaided, and government school in Goa are being trained to be like health and wellness ambassadors wherever they teach.

Every week, these teachers will have to conduct hour-long activity sessions which cover 11 subjects that touch many emotional, physical, and mental aspects. The topics include healthy lifestyle, nutrition, sanitation, substance abuse prevention, reproductive health, and safe use of the internet, media, and gadgets. The other subjects are gender equality, HIV prevention, values & responsible citizenship, interpersonal relationships, and emotional and mental well-being.

“Teachers have to compulsorily answer the online baseline assessment pre-test and post-test. Participating teachers are required to carry their smartphone/laptop with personal internet connection as they have to answer the tests,” said the state council for educational research and training (SCERT)

“After the training, teachers will implement the school health and wellness programe as health and wellness ambassadors in their respective schools to fulfill the objectives of the programme. Selected students in each class will be given the responsibility of spreading the message as health and wellness messengers,” schools have been instructed.
