Single-use plastic items will be banned in Goa from July 1. The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSBB) has issued a notice to alert stakeholders about it. The banned items range from plates to cups to earbuds.
The manufacturing, stocking, distribution, and sale of single-use plastic items will be prohibited from July 1. Those who violate this will have to endure penal actions such as their goods being seized, environmental compensation payment, or even closure of the industrial/ commercial establishments.
Goa generates a high amount of waste… It is 7 times higher than the national average of 8g per capita! So, every manufacturer, retailer, hospital, college, office, street vendor, e-commerce company, shopkeeper, other institutions, and consumers, have been requested to stop producing, selling, and using single-use plastic items.
