All the tasks that are underway to turn Goa’s capital city, Panjim, into a Smart City will be halted by mid-March. Why? Because the G20 summit meetings will be held in April. The roads will be reinstated after the sewerage works. The tasks will begin again after the monsoon season has ended.
Panjim City needed a lot of repair work. When the roads were dug up it was discovered that a lot of sewer lines were damaged which dirtied the groundwater supply. The power cables that are underground are also spoiled and covered with mud. The annual beloved Carnaval will be held in spite of all this as there is seemingly no other choice. The traffic problem of Panjim won’t be rid of so soon until the Smart City projects are completed.
