Have you heard about the iconic Monte Music Festival in Goa? This year, the venue has been changed. It has been shifted to the nearby Monte Santo (Holy Hill).
Two choirs from Goa will be performing in the festival’s 20th edition at the Church of Santa Monica in Old Goa. This will happen on the weekend after Easter. Last year, the music festival was completely in online mode. It will be the first time since the pandemic that it will have a physically present audience.
The venue was shifted to the neighbouring hill as the Our Lady of the Monte chapel is currently having some restoration work done. Western classical performers like Nadine Crasto (pianist), Rahul Bharadwaj (baritone), and Kersi Gazdar (tenor) will be there. On Saturday, The festival will start with a performance of G F Handel’s three-part oratorio, Messiah. On Sunday, the Ektaal children’s choir will conduct a programme called ‘Harmony in Hope’.
