This year, Goa’s Carnival will take place in locations that weren’t typically chosen before. Different versions of the event will take place in Pilerne, Mandrem, and Porvorim.
On February 16th (5 pm), a Children’s Carnival will be held at the courtyard of St John the Baptist Church, Pilerne. The purpose of this is to showcase Goa’s culture with as minimal commercialization as possible. There will be no floats, alcohol, or sponsors. Parents have been requested to bring their children in colourful clothes and carry musical instruments. A ‘royal family’ has been chosen for Pilerne – the Fernandes family. There will be a king, queen, princes, and princesses to lead the Children’s Carnival for 5 days.
The Porvorim Carnival designated parking spaces and seating arrangements to steer clear of traffic jams during the float parade. It will be held on February 17th at 3:30 pm from the Porvorim service road.
On February 21st, the Morjim carnival will begin at the Morjim junction at 3 pm. To increase participants, alluring prizes are being offered to the winners which start from Rs 1,25,000. Foreigners are welcome as well.
