Traffic fines in Goa have increased after 27 years! The director of Transport revealed that traffic fines were last amended in 1995. The machines that impose the fines have been updated with new data on the fine amounts.
Now, for driving without a license, the offender will be charged Rs.10,000. If a person is driving above the speed limit, Rs.1000 – Rs.2000 will be charged.
The director of Transport says that the future is enforcing traffic fines remotely. This will be achieved through CCTV cameras and a computer system. It is being introduced in Goa’s capital city, Panaji. This will result in more effectiveness and transparency as there will be no human to human interaction.
The new traffic fines were implemented in the state from March 31 2022, midnight.
