Traffic Signal At Navelim Junction Not Yet Commissioned

A test run of the traffic signal was done by the traffic cell. Unfortunately, many issues appeared which hadn’t been noticed before causing a delay.  During peak travelling time, traffic jams started forming even though the timing was increased. This was because of the multiple intersections. Pedestrians had a hard time crossing as well.

This project was supposed to be commissioned by November 2019 but got delayed. To prevent pedestrians from disorderly walking, it was decided that railings were to be put near the footpaths. The work had already started but the PWD’s funds dwindled and they were unable to complete the work which would cost around Rs.58 lakhs.

The traffic cell is no longer for the notion of commencing the traffic signals until other options are discovered to deal with the various intersections on the traffic signals’ sides and until the barricade is put up.
