However, the state is also home to several movie screening spaces which are truly novel in the cinema experiences they provide. These exclusive movie going spaces are ideal for watching classics and award winning movies and revisiting old memories.
- Sunapranta
Sunapranta, Goa Centre for Arts is a cultural hub for all sorts of movie screenings, art exhibits, book readings, theatre & poetry performances, and much more. Located in the heart of Panjim at Altinho, this centre for arts is housed inside a heritage Portuguese mansion and stands out due to the striking blue and white color scheme and its well spread campus. Apart from hosting regular art shows by renowned artists, Sunapranta also conducts regular film screenings at the premises, under the adage of ‘Film for Thought’. A varied range of thought – provoking cinema can be enjoyed here.
- Literati
The Literati Bookstore & Café in Calangute offers the artsy soul inside you a respite from the party belt’s shacks and crowded places. Along with frequent book releases and readings, Literati also screens world movies on an almost weekly basis. Award winning movies from India (regional & mainstream), Turkey, Iran, and even Hollywood find their way to the screenings held at Literati.
- Carpe Diem Art Gallery
Carpe Diem is an art and learning centre located in a beautiful Portuguese house in Majorda. Carpe Diem has several art galleries to showcase the works of various artists, has a famous in-house café, a shop selling curated handicrafts and other items and lots of open space. The Gallery has an open air auditorium which is often the hub for interactive sessions, workshops and movie screenings.
- Museum of Goa [MOG]
A space for promoting art forms and making it accessible to the masses, MOG in Bardez, houses art galleries, an Art Store, a café, a studio for artists as well as an auditorium. Award winning movies are screened regularly at the MOG and movie goers are often allowed to bring in their own blankets and drinks. If you reach early for your movie, take a walk through the art exhibitions on display.
- Gallery Gitanjali
Located in the heart of Panjim, Gallery Gitanjali serves as a cultural space and offers an alternative art studio, a café and a conference / workshop venue. Apart from the various art events, book readings, etc., film appreciation sessions and movie screenings are also held periodically.
