Will there be a new Unesco World Heritage Site in Goa?! The ancient petroglyphs located at Pansaimol in Rivona, South Goa have been put on the Unesco shortlist. (Petroglyphs are ancient rock carvings that can have different shapes and sizes such as animals, human figures, geometrical shapes, etc).
The petroglyphs were included after the museum of Maharashtra and the directorate of archaeology sent a proposal to the central government together about the petroglyphs of Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra and Goa’s Pansimol. More than 600 figures are in these places.
These happenings will attract more researchers and bring to light the rich history of these areas.
