For the safety of women in Goa, Nestinka Rebello felt the urgent need to do something.
After Rebello found out about a woman attacked in Benaulim, she sprung into action. She is the director and chief technology officer of fintech startup CodeMax.
Rebello felt that the best weapon could be a smartphone!
Every android and iOS smartphone has settings that can send out an SOS and even pictures of the attackers with a click of a button. Many people aren’t aware of this useful feature.
To increase awareness, Rebello started safeus.life, an online initiative. This shows women how to use the tools in their smartphones to get help as soon as possible. A step-by-step guide has been put up to activate the emergency locator feature. This can send the location and an alert by pressing the power button.
